History

Growing up, Maiwyn began speaking quite later than other kits and was sensitive about their lisp and lack of eloquence, developing into a serious rather shy loner. A lover of books and poetry, a star gazer and explorer, Maiwyn would also try to climb the tallest tree, jump from the highest place or dive into a possibly bottomless pool with little hesitation. They were often found in some of the most unusual and unexpected places, sometimes needing rescue from the result of their curiosity.Despite their mother's frequent attempts to have them perform some poem or song for others, which they hated, Maiwyn became known for being far from or at the edge of any crowd, and away from the fireside. Mai never wished to be the center of attention but also craved acceptance and affection as they matured into adulthood and left the matriarchal area for the communes of male Viera society. Yet even among a race considered by many to be one of the most beautiful, Mai's unusual looks often attracted admiration and a desire to possess, and in fact, ultimately, unfortunately, led to them leaving their homeland.Shamed by a public rejection and revealing of intimate details of their sincere but naïve devotion to a community favorite, Maiwyn accepted the offer by a visiting trader to start a new life in the rebuilding Eorzea. They soon found themself in the bustling city of Limsa Lominsa but betrayed once more, held hostage and forced to service clients before escaping and beginning solo travels across the world.Maiwyn still finds themself both attracted to and repulsed by their "adopted" city, but glad they found their true calling as a dancer after being enthralled by the fierce rhythms and moves of Nashmeira and her traveling band of Kriegtanzer-n. As a dancer, Maiwyn shows his most honest and true self, but their affinity for magic and the arcane had seen them become an accomplished summoner.Life is Eorzea is an almost terrifying experience for Maiwyn as they seek to conquer their distrust of others and deal with painful memories, while still being deeply grateful and hopeful for a better future. One in which they hope to feel safe and happy enough to share their original Veena name with a beloved. Some may read Mai's history and only see negativity, believing they are a sad person to be avoided. No, they're on a healing journey of positivity, of recognizing and experiencing affection and love, both platonic and romantic, and sharing of themself and their joy to have survived. Thus, they established MIDNIGHT, hosting readings and "listening" services in their home in Empyreum. It is a place for like or interested souls to visit, warm themselves in the cool darkness of Midnight and its gentle melancholy.NEW!: Maiwyn recently heard rumors of a young Viera searching for their parent, a young Daffodil whose unmistakable similarity to themself couldn't be denied. Mai chose to meet him, and had their connection confirmed. Ambivalent, thrilled, and overjoyed, Mai accepted the offer to get to know his son for the first time.

Other Information

Viera kits are agender until they reach adulthood and develop to become female or male at around age thirteen. A small percentage develop and keep both aspects, which also mean they remain in a perpetual low heat, with pheromones affecting those around them. Maiwyn was such a Viera, an Intergen, and is also thus able to father children but also give birth. Because of this, before being allowed to leave the Viera homelands, Maiwyn was forced to father a child which they were never allowed to hold or know, assuming they would have half bloods in the other worlds and not return periodically to procreate as a father. This resulted in a deep uneasiness around females, especially other Viera.
